Alterations & Mending
We are no longer able to offer extensive alterations on most bridal/formal gowns, leather items or suit jackets.
Everything is machine or hand-sewn with the most care we can provide.
We no longer offer dry cleaning. However, the cleaners we used to send work out to are still out there. There are two processing plants in town, Pressed For Time (McGarrigle Rd/Northfield Rd) and Top Quality Cleaners (Bruce Ave/4th St). They each have various drop-off locations.
01 Hemming

We hem jeans, yoga pants, jogging pants, dress pants, skirts, shorts, overcoats, dresses, shirts and curtains.
Prices vary depending on the article and style of hem.
We can even lengthen hems to some extent!
For jeans we even offer European Hems. Come see us for a sample. This style looks great and it is the best way to preserve a 'distressed' hem and/or thread color/spacing/thickness.

02 Sleeves

Shorten sleeves on coats, jackets, shirts and hoodies.
If your suit sleeves have buttons, we can only shorten the ones with non-working buttonholes. However, depending on how much shorter the sleeve needs to be, it might be possible. We would need to see the sleeve to make this determination.
We can shorten dress shirt sleeves in multiple ways, including turning long sleeves into short sleeves. A must have for summer!
03 Zippers & Buttons

Is your zipper broken? We can replace it. Maybe it is just splitting when you do it up or it is missing the zipper pull, well we can replace that too.
Jeans, skirts, dresses, jackets, coats, backpacks, dress pants, etc.
Offering plastic tooth, plastic coil, metal and invisible zippers. You pick the one you like, or bring us one of your own.
Leather jackets on a case by case basis as the leather may be too heavy for our machines. We would love to look at it though.

Has your button fallen off? Bring it to us and we can sew it back on. If you've lost it then we can do our best to sew on something similar or you can provide a new button for us that you like. Do you need a set of buttons sewn on? Please provide the set to us (Fabricland is a good resource to pick up matching buttons as we only have 'odds and ends' for buttons) and it can be done. We can even make buttonholes in garments without them.
Metal studs are no problem either. Unfortunately if your metal stud has fallen out, it is now useless as this type of button is only able to be used once (same as snaps). However, we have a variety of colors and can most likely match the color theme of your garment.
04 Beadwork
If your garment has beadwork, it may be something we can work with. If there is extensive beading, a bridal store may be your best option!
05 Various Sewing
Pants a little loose or snug? No problem! Taking in the waistband is a snap. Letting them out depends on the waistband and amount of fabric left in the seam. Pants with a 'french seam' (most jeans) or excessive decorative stitching may cost a little extra.
Perhaps it is just the seat or thigh that is too big. We can easily take that in. Tapering legs too.

Do you have a loved one in a wheelchair or bedridden that needs to have pants/shirts/nightshirts opened in the back for easier dressing and care needs? We are able to do this and attach fastenings (typically ties for pants and velcro for shirts.

While we are unable to offer 'invisible mending' we will do our best to fix holes and split seams. We even offer zigzag patches for things like jeans, backpacks and jackets.

As our expert in leather-working has now retired, leather items are on a case-by-case basis.
Certainly sewing on badges/crests, punching new holes in belts and putting on new snaps is no trouble at all. For other works, please bring the article in to see us!
